The Stephen Sprouse Book by Roger Padilha and Mauricio Padilha, with Foreword by Tama Janowitz.
Stephen Sprouse interned at 14 with Bill Blass and was Halston’s right hand at 18, before striking out on his own at 22. He partied with the likes of Debbie Harry, Iggy Pop and collaborated with star photographers like Patrick Demarchelier and Steven Meisel. His bold, Day-Glo designs embodied the graffiti artist mystic, and have become identified with 80s exuberance. As co-author Mauricio Padilha states in his opening essay, “… Sprouse was the first designer to successfully merger street culture and high fashion.”

Marc Jacobs tapped Sprouse to collaborate on Louis Vuitton accessories in 2000… the result was painted graffiti onto trademark LV logo handbags and created a trendy, must-have line of accessories. The brothers Padilha possess the largest private collection of Sprouse’s work, and were given exclusive access to his archive by the Sprouse family for this project.

This much anticipated book is deeply researched and stunningly illustrated and designed. The book is available in hardcover, in four different color variations… I have the day-glo orange!
